Hoping to regain some momentum after Kanye West’s Donda takeover of the weekend, Lil Tecca drops the deluxe version to his 2021 project, We Love You Tecca 2. The original project was released on Friday, August 27th, and seemed to have the week to itself before Kanye West or Universal released Donda on Sunday morning. Obviously, whenever a Hip-Hop megastar like Kanye West chooses a day to release an album, all the other rappers try and scoot out of the way before the high-speed train passes the station. However, with all signs pointing to September 3rd for the release of both Donda and Certified Lover Boy, it was a reasonable expectation that the week prior would be free.

To overcome what can only be described as bad luck, Lil Tecca has added five additional tracks to the backend of We Love You Tecca 2. With initial sales for We Love You Tecca 2 standing at 32 thousand units, it remains to be seen if the addition of five extra tracks will help increase the sales projections for his third project. However, with Drake’s Certified Lover Boy around the corner, it may be unlikely that fans gravitate to a deluxe from Lil Tecca between listening to two of the most heavily anticipated albums of the year. If there’s one lesson for artists to take away, it’s the importance of release dates and how crucial they can be to the success of the music being put out.
