The latest development in Kanye West’s Donda saga has been revealed with the artist planning a third listening event, this time taking place at Soldier Field in his hometown of Chicago. The listening event will take place on Thursday, August 26th. Additionally, the former vice president of Def Jam, Bu Thiam, who now serves as Kanye West’s manager confirmed in the comments under his Instagram post that Donda will be released after the upcoming listening event. What this means is fans should expect the arrival of Donda on Friday, August 27th.
With an unofficial release date set, fans who have been waiting on pins and needles for the release of Donda may have finally found their window to relax. After two listening events in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, a 24-hour live stream of Kanye West’s process, and numerous rumors of when the album would officially be released, fans now can clear their schedules in preparation for the most highly anticipated album of the year.
With the number of pump fakes that have occurred throughout the rollout for Donda, it’s perfectly understandable why some fans may be cautiously hopeful. Usually, news coming from an artist’s manager is treated as the law of the land, however, with an artist as impulsive as Kanye West, nothing is cemented until it happens, even if it comes from West himself. However, perhaps the location of the third listening event being Kanye’s hometown is symbolic of something and this may be the finale in what is one of the greatest album rollouts we’ve seen. Fans won’t have answers until next August 27th, so until then we’re all staying tuned.
