Kanye West Makes History With ‘DONDA’ Listening Session On Apple Music With 3.3M Streams
History is made with no album out. Kanye West hosted a private listening session at the Mercedes Benz stadium last Thursday (July 22nd) in Atlanta for his upcoming studio album ‘DONDA,’ named after his late mother and the venue was packed. For those who were unable to attend the live experience, you were able to live-stream the private session on Apple Music.
Many fans in attendance were ecstatic, especially with the surprise collaboration of West and Jay-Z which was the last record played on the album. West also played other tracks, including the track ‘No Child Left Behind,’ which is a commercial he directed that stars Sha’Carri Richardson, a U.S. track star phenomenon. While we still wait for the album to drop, which was reportedly supposed to drop last Friday, looks like the anticipation has spoken for itself.
According to TMZ, the Apple live-stream broke the Apple Music Global live stream record with 3.3M viewers. The record was previously held by VERZUZ for their battle between Gucci Mane and Jeezy which had 1.8M viewers. If you missed the live experience and the live stream, you won’t be able to view it again as it was set up to be a ‘one-time’ ordeal (better hope a friend recorded it).
The popular news site has also reported that Mr. West is currently living in the stadium to finish the album, which is projected to release August 6th. It’s being reported the West and his team set themselves up with a studio space, living quarters, and a private chef who is taking care of all their meals. Sources say that due to the momentum of the crowd, West was “inspired” and wanted to remain in the stadium to finish up.
Those who appeared in attendance to celebrate West at his listening session were Rick Ross, Khloe Kardashian, ex-wife Kim Kardashian, and his entire family. Are we ready for the album to allegedly drop on August 6th?
