Vince Staples Freestyles on LA Leakers as Finishing Touch in ‘Vince Staples’ Rollout

Following tradition in what appears to be a rite of passage for any rapper with plans of releasing an album in 2021, Vince Staples made an appearance on Power 106 Los Angeles’ radio show LA Leakers, freestyling and ultimately ripping apart the beat for Dr.Dre’s “Xxplosive.”

Vince Staples on LA Leakers

Following tradition in what appears to be a rite of passage for any rapper with plans of releasing an album in 2021, Vince Staples made an appearance on Power 106 Los Angeles’ radio show LA Leakers, freestyling and ultimately ripping apart the beat for Dr.Dre’s “Xxplosive.” As previously mentioned, Vince Staples is just the latest rapper to participate in the process of annihilating classic beats to promote their albums. J. Cole, Polo G, Migos, and Ski Mask the Slump God have all gone viral within the past two months with their showcase of incredible freestyle skills.

Vince Staples is of course promoting his incoming project Vince Staples which is scheduled to drop on July 9th. Along with his masterful appearance on LA Leakers, Vince Staples has already released two samples in the rollout for his first project in nearly three years. “LAW OF AVERAGES” was released on June 18th and serves as the second track on the Long Beach rapper’s incoming project with the more recently released, “ARE YOU WITH THAT?” serving as the intro track.

From the sound of the two singles, in addition to his appearance on LA Leakers, one thing has become abundantly clear: Vince Staples is trying to rap. And when I say rap, I don’t mean just rhyme words together, I mean masterfully piece together words, making sure that they correctly convey Vince’s message through each track. If Vince Staples follows through on the mastery Vince Staples has shown throughout the rollout, it could prove to be one of the best albums of the year.
