Jennifer Hudson Demands “Respect” In The New Aretha Franklin Biopic Trailer

Published

Find out what “Respect” means to Jennifer Hudson this summer as she is set to play the “Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin in the new biopic film “Respect,” which follows the career of legend who has spawned classic hits like Respect, I Never Loved A Man, and I Say A Little Prayer. One of Aretha’s wishes was for Hudson to play her in any film that was made about her career.

Before her passing in 2018, Franklin was heavily involved in the production of the film alongside Hudson to make sure her narrative was told correctly. In addition to Hudson, Marlon Wayans, Forest Whitaker, and Mary J Blige have also signed on to be apart of the cast. With such a star-studded ensemble, we wouldn’t be surprised to see this as a contender for an Oscar nomination for 2022.

Take a look at the trailer below:

“Respect” is set to hit theaters this August.
