James Worthy Shines On New Single “In the Dark”
It’s very rare that you find a new artist out the gate who has already cemented themselves in the music industry working alongside some legends. That rare exception happens to be with singer-songwriter James Worthy. With the release of his new single “In the Dark,” James is more than ready to show the world what he’s made of.
“In the Dark” is sexy R&B track where James brings love making to the forefront and can be added to any bedroom playlist while still being polished for radio. The track co-written by the singer is the lead single from his upcoming debut studio album Once A Fairytale. “In the Dark” is already taking off, where it recently hit the top 40 of the iTunes R&B/Soul chart. But there’s more to James than people know.
The 29 year-old got his start in the industry as a songwriter and producer at an early age after his family relocated to Atlanta from his birthplace of Queens, NY. At 16, James began teaching himself how to produce, which would lead him to enrolling at The Art Institute of Atlanta and earning a bachelors degree in audio production. With a Sony publishing deal under his belt, James began his journey of the music industry.
James began writing and producing for a wide range of artists such as Bobby Brown and his son, the late Bobby Brown Jr., Whitney Houston, Fetty Wap, Frankie Beverly, Robin S., 6lack, and Yung Berg before he became the successful producer known today as Hitmaka, just to name a few. That would then lead to James starting his solo career as a singer, releasing collaborations with “Addictive” singer Truth Hurts, Ruff Ryders member Drag-On, fellow singer-songwriter Kalenna formally of Diddy-Dirty Money and, more recently, J. Holiday on his 2020 single “Goldmine.”
At eleven years old, most of us are still dreaming up what we want to be when we grow up. But when you get to meet and get a word from the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson, who tells you you’re going to be influential in the entertainment industry, you have no choice but to take that as a sign of greatness to come. For James, he’s taken that advice and still making major moves to this day with no signs of slowing down.
James’ single “In the Dark” is now on all streaming services and for purchasing at digital music retailers, while his new album Once A Fairytale is slated for a summer release via Humble Sound Music Group.
