Meet Maserati Sparks: Seasoned NYC Producer

Maserati Sparks is a seasoned producer out Long Island, NY – who’s honed his craft over 10+ years in the game working with some of the biggest artists, brands, and producers around. 

To get the namedropping out of the way, Maserati Sparks has produced songs for many of your favorite artists, from NYC royalty like Jadakiss, Juelz Santana, and French Montana to the new school in Conway the Machine, Kiing Shooter (RIP), and Jay Gwuapo – to the modern day legends in Young Thug, Dej Loaf, and Trae the Truth – to the rising class of young stars like YNW Melly and Fredo Bang. Few producers have such an impressive credit list, and even fewer have been able to secure placements with brands including REVOLT, NBA2K, ESPN, Love & Hip Hop, and more. 

But who is Maserati Sparks? Maserati Sparks comes from a musical family in Long Island, where he grew up playing piano and organ in the church, encouraged to pursue music by the many musicians and singers in his family. It wasn’t until his later teenage years around 2006 that he combined his musical talents learned in church with the music he was hearing all around him in the neighborhood when he discovered he could create beats on his 8-track casino keyboard. Shortly after he started creating simple 8-track beats, a friend sold him an 002 Digital Interface with a laptop to go with – and he dove into production and never looked back. 

After grinding for the first few years, honing his craft and networking and landing placements with smaller artists around the city, Maserati landed his first big placement in 2013 with a song by Jadakiss & Shineboy Mack called “What You Say” (aka MackMilly). This got Maserati’s name on the map and – along with his consistent work ethic and command over the gritty NY trap sound – opened the door to work with more artists, landing tracks featuring French Montana and a still early-stage Young Thug – even landing a feature in XXL magazine. 

Unfortunately, the success was cut short when Maserati was arrested in 2014 and ultimately ended up having to serve two years. By the time he got out in 2016, it was back to square one. Right away he got to work getting back on his feet, for over a year working two full time jobs and still finding time to work on music. As he got back into the scene, his hard work slowly began paying off as he started to make new connections and learn the ropes of selling beats online. As he started landing placements he was able to quit his jobs and focus full time on music once again – first on tracks with Conway the Machine & J-Haze (“Hussein On Cocaine” and “ Sicario”), and then on Sniper Gang artist, Peth Burr’s track “Murk Sum” which featured the now southern-superstars, YNW Melly and Fredo Bang, which led to doing tracks with the late-legend, Kiing Shooter (RIP), first “Regular” feat. Jay Gwuapo and then  “Game Time” , and “Closure” feat Kiyanne off Shooter’s 2019 album ‘No Turnin Bacc.’

Back on track, Maserati Sparks continued his roll in 2019-20 with several impressive placements, including an instrumental used in an intro sequence on REVOLT TV and a track titled “Young Blood” with Grammy-nominated composer, Cyrus DeShield that is used on ESPN and featured in NBA 2K21 AND the special 2K21 Mamba Edition. In that time he’s also collabed with notable producers like Triple A, Smkexclsv, and J Banga Beats. 

In October 2020, Maserati Sparks was pleasantly surprised with the news of his first official major placement since re-entering the game – a track called “Queen” off DeJ Loaf’s long awaited album, ‘Sell Sole II.’ 

Today, Maserati Sparks is once again a full-fledged producer – working with artists, collabing with other producers, and constantly improving his craft.
