Exclusive: Bobby Shmurda To Be Released From Prison Next Week
After serving over six years (was sentenced to seven) at Clinton Correctional Facility for gang related offenses, Brooklyn’s very own Bobby Shmurda is finally being released in less then a week. Over the years, there’s been much speculation as to when the “Hot N*gga” chart-topping Billboard sensation would get freed from prison. Just last year, he was denied parole. Earlier, his GS9 partner-in-crime Rowdy Rebel gave us some insight after he posted an old clip of Shmurda in the studio with the caption: “SIX DAYS LFET 🤭 Then all the joy gone wash away the pain,I promise you brother💯 #stillfreegs9 #freeskrap1090“
Bobby’s set release date is scheduled for Tuesday, February 23, which was initially supposed to be December 11, 2021 after being sentenced back in October 2016. Since being locked up, fans have made Bobby a household name and highly anticipating his official release. The now 26 year old, whose real name is Ackquille Pollard was born in Miami, FL. but was raised in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn to West Indian parents. His mother, Leslie Pollard is African American, while his dad is of Jamaican descent.
He signed a 7-figure multi- album deal with Epic Records back in 2014 before he was sent away, and plans on getting right back into the studio upon his release. He also has plans of a documentary on his life, mentoring the youth, and a movie.
“I’m glad he’s coming home,” said Alex Spiro, a lawyer who represented Shmurda in the criminal case.
Bobby will serve the remaining of his sentence on parole due to good behavior, although he did have some run-ins with inmates while he was locked up over the years. GS9 affiliates Rowdy Rebel was released back in December in the same case, while Fetty Luciano released in 2017 after serving only three years behind bars for the conviction.
We’re excited to see what Bobby has in store once he’s out next week, especially considering we never got a full-length project or album from him before he went to prison. He had intentions of doing a collaboration project with Migos, who were then new to the scene, but that was halted due to his incarceration.
Who would you like to see Shmurda collaborate with? How will he operate during a global pandemic since concerts are on pause?
