August Alsina has always been vocal about his life since his mainstream debut in early 2013. The vices that plagued the Louisiana native cultivated his uniqueness through lyricism, narrating personal trials and tribulations especially how his life psychologically affected Alsina when his eldest brother was gunned down in 2011.

During a performance back in 2017, August collapsed on stage which resulted to the singer-songwriter being hospitalized on numerous of occasions. He [August Alsina] later revealed on social media that he suffers from a rare auto-immune disease that attacks the liver. This unspecified ailment temporarily impaired the singer’s mobility which required him to attend physical therapy sessions. In the midst of his health complications, August would lose his sister (in-law, I believe) Netia La’Branch to cancer back in 2018. This resulted to the singer becoming a guardian to his nieces.

It has been five years since August Alsina released a studio album, and three years since he released a mixtape. Upon releasing singles throughout his hiatus, the New Orleans native has resurfaced with a newly released EP “The Product III: stateofEMERGEncy.” The 27-track EP showcases the lyrical growth from the singer-songwriter, navigating his obstacles from a loss of a loved one, relationship woes, and spiritual guises. The EP features Lil Wayne, Darrel Walls, Tink, Yo Gotti, and Juicy J.

Whilst promoting his new EP, August Alsina also became topic of discussion on all social media platforms after he revealed his affair with Jada Pinkett-Smith.

Interviewed in an intimate setting with Angela Yee (from ‘The Breakfast Club’), the harrowing question asked about his relationship with the star-studded actress, and if his record ‘NUNYA’ is about Jada’s discernment of other relations August may have acquired.

August: … People don’t necessarily know the truth, but I’ve never done anything wrong. I love those [The Smith’s] people. Literally, like my family. I don’t ever – I don’t have a bad thing to say about them. They are beautiful people.

During this phase of the interview, August would explain about his loss of friendship, opportunities, and other relationships during the ongoing speculation with his relationship with Jada Pinkett-Smith.

August: You know when something starts affecting my life, and not only affecting my life but affecting my wellness. My well-being and also starts to block my heart, my heart-space is blocked. I don’t really have a choice but to express my truth.

August continues to unveil the encounter between him and Will Smith.

August: I actually sat down with Will [Smith] and had a conversation, due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership that they’ve spoken on several times, [and] you know, not involving romanticism.  He gave me his blessing. [And] I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life.  I truly and really and really, really deeply loved and have a ton of love for her.

Both Jada and Will’s PR team denied these allegations of August claims. Jada’s team stating that there was no romantic relationship with August, and on Will’s team, that he never granted their blessing.
