During her acceptance she delivered a very powerful message, calling out division amongst minorities while mandating that society joins together to bring the about the equality that this country desperately needs.
“I’m gonna try to keep this simple because tonight is not really about me. The purpose is bigger than me right, my part is just a very small part of the work that’s being done in this world, and the work that is yet to be done.”

Rihanna has done great philanthropic work in recent years which she credits her experience to understand the importance of working as a unit to solve a nationwide crisis. She also includes, “We can only fix this world together, we can’t do it divided. I can not emphasize that enough. We can’t let the de-sensitivity seep in. If it’s your problem it’s not mine, its a women’s problem, black people problem, poor people problem. How many of us have colleagues, partners, and friends from other races sexes religions…They want to break bread with you? They like you? Well, then this is their problem too.”
