In 1998, the world was introduce to Missy Elliott‘s newest protégée, Nicole, now known by her full name Nicole Wray. Nicole was only 17 at the time, but had the voice of an old soul. She used that voice on her breakout R&B, Timbaland produced hit “Make It Hot,” which featured another Missy protégée Mocha, and supporting vocals from singer/songwriter Kelly A. Price (not to be confused with R. Kelly’s former protégée Kelly Price). The music video for the song featured a slew of cameos, including R&B/Dance royalty Aaliyah.
Today, Nicole Wray is in a new R&B/Soul duo with UK singer/songwriter Terri Walker entitled Lady. Their debut self-titled album has just been released via Truth & Soul Records. Check out the music video above, then reminisce on it in the comments’ section below!
