Rumors around the potential release of Kendrick Lamar’s incoming project have set the internet ablaze in the past 24 hours after a combination of music leaks and Spotify profile picture changes. Fans have been waiting more than four years for Kendrick Lamar’s follow-up to DAMN., his Pulitzer Prize winning album. With Kendrick Lamar set to take the stage with Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Dr. Dre, and Mary J. Blige in SoFi Stadium for Super Bowl LVI in mid-February, it would be a surprise if we don’t get any new music from Kendrick by then.

While the details on the incoming Kendrick Lamar project are limited, what we do know so far is that it will serve as the finale to the TDE chapter in K. Dot’s career. On TDE, Kendrick Lamar released four classic projects, Section.80, good kid, m.A.A.d city, To Pimp A Butterfly, and DAMN. (you’re probably not going to debate this, but if you do nobody is going to entertain the argument because it’s fact) propelling the West Coast label to become one of the impactful Hip-Hop labels of the last decade. Coincidentally, Kendrick released the most impactful album of the 2010s, good kid m.A.A.d city on October 22nd, which happens to be this Friday’s date.

Additionally, Kendrick Lamar has become more active musically, within the past two months, appearing twice on Baby Keem’s the melodic blue. Perhaps setting the Hip-Hop world on fire with the verse of the year on ‘family ties’ is all the rollout Kendrick Lamar would need for his curtain call on TDE.

While we currently have little to no information about the incoming Kendrick album, when you consider the recent activity around K. Dot, the potential importance of October 22nd, and the fact that Kendrick is one of the few artists in the world who can drop whenever he wants without a rollout, it wouldn’t be farfetched to assume we will have a new Kendrick Lamar album within 24 hours.

With the Super Bowl fast approaching, and the quasi-guarantee that we’ll have new music from Kendrick Lamar before then, fans of King Kendrick are on pins and needles trying to manifest new information about the next Kendrick Lamar era. Hopefully, Kendrick fans can manifest hard enough for a new Kendrick album to be released tonight.
