This Sunday (May 24th), the late Andre Harrell will be honored with a memorial tribute that is seemingly long overdue.
Starting at 7PM EST, viewers will get a chance to celebrate Harrell’s life and legacy while reliving moments from the “golden era” of Hip-Hop and R&B. The tribute entitled Mr. Champagne and Bubbles (after one of Harrell’s nicknames), is set to air on BET and all of it’s affiliate networks, FOX Soul, and Revolt TV (where he was Vice-Chairman prior to his passing).
The commercial-free special will be executively produced by his 25-year old son Gianni and will feature appearances and performances from Mary J. Blige, Naomi Campbell, Baby Face, Mariah Carey and more.
Harrell unexpectedly passed on May 7th, 2020 from congestive heart failure at the age of 59. News of his passing shocked the music industry as the realization sunk in that we lost a musical trailblazer who deserved much more recognition while he was alive.
One of the people most heavily affected by his passing is fellow entertainment mogul and long-time friend, Sean “Diddy” Combs. Diddy has continued to publicly mourn the lost of his mentor with heartfelt posts on his Instagram page. Most recently, he posted a memorial video in Harrells honor where he officially deems him “Andre the Great”.
Be sure to tune in as we all pay our final respects to the man that helped pioneer the music that we love today.
