In April 2015, Janelle Monae released her first single that allowed her to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 as a solo artist, That record was “Yoga,” the lead single for her Wondaland Records EP project entitled ‘The Eephus.’ The R&B hit featured singer-songwriter and rapper Jidenna and debuted with an electric and energetic yoga inspired music video. The song reached #24 on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and #79 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and #10 on the South African charts. The song maintained heavy rotation on streaming services and radio, delivery Janelle’s music to a much wider audience.
Since then, Janelle has been “stretching out her cash got her money doing yoga” with acting (‘Moonlight,’ ‘Hidden Figures’), fashion (her iconic reveal at the 2019 Met Gala), and a new album (‘Dirty Computer’). She recently spoke on her creativity with beautiful new photos for In Style magazine, like the one shown below.
