Looks like T.I.’s “King of the South” title holds weight in more ways than we know.
Earlier this week, TMZ posted a story on their site with exclusive information from the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office on the official cause of death of his sister, Precious Harris Chapman. To refresh your memory, she passed away after reportedly being taken off life support on February 22nd after being involved in a car accident where she fell unconscious at the wheel. It wasn’t long before Tip got online and gave them a piece of his mind.
“Y’all been profiting off of people pain,” he said. “Y’all are putting information out that really disrupts their grieving process. But for the most part, what we do is, we look the other way. You know why? Because those people are celebrities. Ain’t nobody feel sorry for celebrities they rich. They live the life that they want, they live the way that nobody else can live. Why should we feel sorry for them? Yeah, I get that.”
It wasn’t long after that T.I.’s fans and the public alike expeditiously attacked the gossip site for putting such sensitive information out on Precious, who although was a pivotal part of the Harris family and the hit VH1 reality series T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle, was not a “celebrity.”
TMZ then did the unthinkable: they actually apologized for their actions!
Earlier Thursday, we posted a story about T.I.‘s sister, Precious Harris Chapman, and reported the Medical Examiner’s official findings on her cause of death … we were wrong to do it… T.I. and his family are hurt and furious, and they have a point.
The site then went on to give Precious her flowers and go into detail on all of the good deeds she had done during her lifetime, a fitting tribute given the circumstances.
