BMI is not only a performing rights organization known to collect royalties on behalf of their affiliates, which includes both producers and songwriters. The company, which is an abbreviation for Broadcast Music Inc. is also known to showcase some of their hottest and newest talent, and on Thursday, May 30th it was no different. Atlanta’s very own bombshell Summerella opened the show and performed her hit, “Do You Miss It” before Atlantic Records’ signee ELHAE took the stage to perform the fan favorite, “Needs.” But that wasn’t it, down south kept the heat going, Atlanta was surely in the building. Another native by the name of Mulatto turned the place all the way up rocking a pink do and matching bra spitting lethal bars. 21 year old Lil Keed (who is signed to Young Thug’s YSL Records) gave the crowd what they need once he came out to give his flavor of ATL bounce.
And it wouldn’t be right if BMI didn’t bring out a special guest, Florida’s own R&B sensation, B. Smyth took to the stage (and crowd) to provide the ladies with some sensual sounds as he serenaded them with his appeal. Grammy award winning super producer Zaytoven was the BMI Legends of ATL Award recipient of the evening, before fellow ATLien LightSkinKeisha brought out some dancers during her set to twerk, representing for the ladies. While most of the acts repped for Atlanta, Memphis’ own Moneybagg Yo also held the southern region down as the bill’s headliner.
