International Pop/soul artist Mikelyrik is known for being in the company of some of the biggest names in the industry from Rihanna, Chris Brown, Mario to Ashanti as well as some of the most well known fellow indie artists from Maad Moiselle to Shaleik Rivers. Well, last night in NYC hanging with the rising star, I was introduced to another amazing talent: SofiJazz!

Born in Belgrade, Serbia, the beautiful Sofija Knezevic (SofiJazz) wowed an exclusive audience at the SomeThin’ Jazz Club with captivating jazz renditions. Her set included standard jazz covers as well as beautifully crafted pieces of her own work along a host of special guest musicians (Luques Curtis, Obed Calvaire, Tuomo Usitalo, Elliot Mason, Jameson Ross).

Sofijazz is no stranger to the entertainment industry as she has toured internationally throughout Europe among many venues and has been involved in numerous projects in the fashion world as well.

After such a posh and elegant evening of entertainment with all proceeds going to victims of the recent Hurricane Sandy, I have no doubt that SofiJazz is one a movement to watch!

On 09 January 2013, Christina Aguilera gave a heart-felt performance of her ballad “Blank Page” from her new album ‘Lotus‘ at the People’s Choice Awards prior to her receiving the first ever People’s Voice Award. Christina then gave a very meaningful acceptance speech, dedicating it to all those who’ve been bullied and put down and recognizing that her voice is what gets her through. Check out the performance above, along with the acceptance speech.

She is a breakout star who was in two successful groups, both multi-platinum selling Danity Kane and Diddy’s Dirty Money. Now she’s doing it on her own, her way. Check out Dawn Richard performing her single, “Faith” at New York City’s popular gay club, Secret Lounge last night for a crowded room. Her album, GoldenHeart comes out on January 15.
