With anticipation running through my veins, I began to force my way through clusters of loyal fans in awe from the magic of Marsha & Musiq as their His & Her’s premiere performance came to an end. Positive energy, flashing lights and instrumentation filled the room, compelling me to be grateful that this wasn’t one of those moments where I would have wished that I were a fly on the wall. Once the crowd dispersed and the smoke cleared, I made my way down to Marsha’s dressing room where she was patiently waiting for the interview to begin. I had expected her to be somewhat exhausted from singing her heart out on stage, but she was just as vibrant as ever and ready for what was to come. His & Her’s a creative collaboration between Marsha & Musiq, was the focal point that broke the ice in our conversation. Here is what Marsha had to say on her newest endeavor:
“Tonight at SOB’s we premiered His & Hers. Musiq says that we are a group now, which is hilarious, [but] I had an idea to collaborate and duet on certain songs that would really open the dialog on relationships. So I say His and Hers, as our [personal perspectives] but it’s open to anything and anyone and anybody. His & His, Hers & Hers, whatever you are into, that one night you got drunk, its just open dialogue for relationships that I don’t think people talk about. We don’t talk to each other anymore.”
