Today’s R&B scene is a little different then it used to be in the 90s to early 2000s, artists like August Alsina, Bryson Tiller, and Tory Lanez are held responsible for changing the climate of this generation’s new wave of sound. Hailing all the way from Detroit, MI comes a 24-year-old by the name of Nick LaVelle who is being dubbed as the modern day Ginuwine so to say, and he is okay with that challenge.
The newcomer, who considers his music as “Trap R&B” who he cites both Tiller and Lanez as influences is ready to take on the roll as the millenial sex symbol and ladies man so he proclaims. He wants dudes to respect his approach to the genre he’s helping cultivate, and for women to desire him, all while providing a masculine appeal. Our very own, Oraldo Austin had the pleasure of sitting down with the Midwest native to discuss his new single and video for “Motion,” which was directed by Kardiak Films, how the heartthrob started off as a promoter and built relationships that lead to his start as a recording artist, creating his own lane, some of his bucket list of dream collaborations, mapping out his upcoming HBCU College Tour throughout the East coast region, and his new project entitled, Nicksperience, which will be out on Valentine’s Day.
