With so many dope rappers coming out of Houston right now, Eliot “Hydro” Ness is a force to be reckoned with. A true artist in his own right, the Texas rapper released his new single entitled, “Jugging.”
As a representative from his neighborhood, Elliot aka Hydro says his music describes his everyday reality and the culture he grew up in. He is a hustler by any means necessary and through his single “Juggin” Eliot is attempting to change the negative connotation that comes along with the term.
“It’s about finessing the competition” said Elliot. He wants his fans to know, regardless of gender, whether you are hustling in the streets or in a corporate office, you are “juggin.”
“I wanted to create something to change everyone’s mind but at the same time, people can vibe to it, dance to it, and just have fun in any atmosphere” said the 31 year old rapper.
He says it is just another form of getting money and he respects people who are willing to put in the work.
Rapping is second nature to Eliot as he is the younger brother of Dog Pound’s The Lady of Rage. Elliot spent his younger years watching his sister grind all the way to the top and he also had a tight knit relationship with the legendary MC Scarface. Besides his other musical influences such as Ice Cube, Tupac, Jay-Z, and of course Dog Pound, Elliot said Scarface is one of the artists who inspires him the most.
“I’ve known him all my life and I saw how such a great lyricist accomplished what he did and it gave me the drive to set higher expectations for myself because I know he comes from nothing. ” said the Texas rapper.
The two rappers have a song together called, “Small Time” featuring Willie D and Daz Dillinger of Dog Pound. Elliot expressed how honored he felt to collaborate with musical geniuses and strives to make his career just as successful.
Elliot says what got him this far is being himself and always maintaining originality. According to him, his biggest supporters are strangers. “They are the ones who will buy your music and stay loyal.” Elliot says he has the upmost respect and admiration for his fans because they motivate him to keep going.
With the support from his fans, two of Elliot’s hottest tracks “Cadillac” featuring heavy hitter Paul Wall, and 25 Lighters featuring ESG and Lil Keke have been in rotation on platforms such as MTV, BET, and VH1. While he appreciates his progress, Elliot says he is not stopping anytime soon. Currently, he is working on his album entitled, I Am Me:The Beginning, which will consist of only five songs. “It is simply a prelude to something great” said Eliot.
As he builds his brand Hustlers On The Block Entertainment (HOB Ent) Eliot is looking to extend his music catalog, expand his clothing line, and even open a restaurant. There is no doubt that Elliot “Hydro” Ness is an amazing lyricist but his work ethic shows there is so much more in store for him.
