Pop Queen Christina Aguilera is set to appear in the new animated film The Emoji Movie. Aguilera’s character from the movie, Akiko Glitter, was debuted to the public this week to drum up promotion for the film. This isn’t the only movie Christina has for the year, for she is currently filming the Sci-Fi film Zoe.
The Emoji Movie is about an imaginary world that lies in our mobile phones where emoji’s live and play. Xtina’s Akiko Glitter is a dance performer, living inside the Just Dance game application. Aguilera stated “I love Akiko Glitter because she’s just free and alive. She lives the way I would love to express myself all the time.” She also added a big part of her wanting to join the movie’s cast was her love and heavy usage of emojis on social media. “You don’t need words at all, just need emojis.” Though there’s tons of excitement for the film buzzing around, a teaser for the film failed with audiences, mostly due to the lackluster excitement passed as dry humor, in December 2016 achaten-suisse.com (see the trailer below).
Christina’s character Akiko Glitter wears a microphone, so hopefully Christina will use her beautiful, soulful voice for the film. If so, it won’t be the first time she’s merged music and film, for Christina Aguilera debuted in the music industry via the film Mulan, singing the lead single to the soundtrack entitled “Reflection.” In 2001, she sung a remake of “Lady Marmalade” for the Mulan Rouge movie, along side Missy Elliott, Lil’ Kim, Mýa & P!nk. In 2004, she and Elliott teamed up for another remake, this time “Car Wash” for the Shark Tale animated movie. Xtina even sung 8/10 songs for the musical movie Burlesque, starring her and legendary musician Cher.
The Emoji Movie is set to be in theaters Friday, July 28 (though, originally set for an August 11th, then August 4th date) and is expected to be a huge summer, blockbuster hit. Christina Aguilera is currently in the studio working on her upcoming album. Maybe the two films, The Emoji Moie and Zoe, will coincide the the release of a new album? Time will tell.
