The Queen Bey might be hitting the big screen as Nala, in the new Lion King remake. According to Variety, Beyoncé is the top choice to voice Simba’s best friend Nala in the upcoming live-action remake of the animated Disney classic.
It’s also known that the studio is willing to work around Beyoncé’s schedule since she’s currently pregnant with twins. Earlier this year, Donald Glover agreed to do the voice of Simba, while James Earl Jones will reply Mufasa. As he did in 1994.
Favreau will direct, while Jeff Nathanson is writing. The movie is still in the early stages, but it’s reportedly being fast-tracked. The original movie made $968.5 million, enough to make it one of the highest-grossing animated films of all time.
Queen Bey has some experience in the film world. In the past, she lent her voice to Fox’s animated film Epic in 2013. She also acted in 2009’s Obsessed, 2006’s Dreamgirls, 2003’s The Fighting Temptations, and 2002’s Austin Powers in Goldmember. She also unleashed a series of critically-acclaimed visuals along with her music, including last year’s LEMONADE film and album.
