We recently sat down with Houston, TX based gospel group The Walls Group (Grammy & Stellar Award nominated), which is comprised of brothers and sisters Darrel, Ahjah, Rhea and Paco Walls. They performed at St. Luke Baptist church in Paterson, NJ to a crowded room filled with supporters and worshipers while singing their hearts out and performing cuts off their latest album, Fast Forward. In the interview, which is conducted by our very own Tabitha Williams the siblings speak on sensitive topics such as what’s currently taking place in our communities like racial profiling, police brutality, etc. They even spoke on betrayal and losing friends once fame and fortune is introduced.
On a lighter note, the group took the time to praise Ms. Brandy Norwood (who is featured on their album on “God On My Mind”), and they went as far as dubbing her “Brandy Walls,” which was quite amusing. They also expressed how much they’d love to collaborate with Kendrick Lamar, Mali Music, Tye Tribbett, and Warryn Campbell on their next album, while calling group member Paco, the “Gospel Drake” and comparing Ahjah to Brandy and Jazmine Sullivan. What was really interesting is when asked about if they’d do reality tv, and based on their reaction – it maybe something in the works very soon.
Thanks to our friend Ron Faison (Happy Birthday!) for making this happen.
