According to BET, ATL was loosely based on the lives and experiences of the film’s producers, Dallas Austin and TLC member Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, growing up in Atlanta. The film debuted at number three at the box office in 2006, grossing $11.5 million in its opening weekend.
Can you believe next year will make 10 years! Wow!
It’ll be interesting to see where they pick up in the sequel. Will they pick up from the college years or jump forward into the adult life? Either way, we can’t wait!
