Corey, how has the summer been for you?! More performances? Meeting more fans? etc
This summer has been pretty good, I’ve spent a lot of time recording, the booth has been my 2nd home as of lately lol. There will definitely be performances in the near future. I talk to my supporters daily!! I’ve met quite a few & they’ve been really cool.
You’re active on YouTube, what do your YouTube followers mean to you?!
Having my YouTube followers constantly rocking with me with every video release means more than they could ever know. I have over 20,000 subscribers & to get that kind of love for just doing what i love, the feeling just couldn’t be justified verbally, I feel really blessed.
What mood do you usually get into before posting a video whether it’s a cover or Webisode?
Honestly, I have to feel as though I’ll be able to deliver vocally 1rst & foremost to even consider doing a cover, once I’m good on that then I just let my personality & me shine through each cover, acting silly sometimes, forgetting words to a few of the songs, It’s honesty, all me & you’ll get all of that if you’re around me everyday, it’s all in fun. Knowing that I’ll probably be able to lift someone’s spirits just by watching me sing & smile puts me in a great mood!
Your mixtape dropped in May, how does it feel to have completed that as a solo artist as we know you were once a part of a group?
It felt great, just knowing the journey it took to get here & to receive the massive amount of love i’ve gotten thus far, assures me that I really was prepared to embark on such a project, but at the same time it all still feels very surreal, i’m happy!!
Also, in May you did a cover with Paris Bennet! Walk us through choosing to do the Stevie Wonder song “Ribbon In The Sky” and getting Paris to do it with you?!
It’s funny you mentioned song choice because at the time we initially were going to do Keri Hilson & Chris Brown’s “One Night Stand,” but we could never get our hands on the instrumental. So Paris suggested we’d do something everyone would be familiar with as well as letting my followers see me sing something they wouldn’t normally expect to hear from me vocally. Me & Paris have been friends for years!
How did it make you feel getting support from V-103 starting out?
To know your city rocks with you, that alone made me feel great & made me realize that regardless of the nay sayers, there are people that are in my corner & truly believe in me & i was very humbled by it!
Tell about your fave R&B album?!
Wow, I really don’t think I can choose just one, only because I’m such an R&B head it’s hard to single out just one, I’ll give two lol, Brandy’s “Full Moon” & Usher’s “Confessions.” I learned so much vocally from these albums.
What has been your favorite R&B mixtape this year?
CALL OF DUTY! LOL
