As we are coming closer to summer the summer jams we love are being released. Rihanna’s “Man Down” single from her latest album Loud has a catchy hook, a reggae touch and a unique rhythm. It has been a hit on the radio for some time now and earlier today she released the video. The strong message in the video tells a compelling story about a sexually abused woman who seeks revenge. Here’s our “Throwback Thursday” feature which comes from 1-hit wonder, Ms. Gina Thompson. This is the 96 Bad Boy/Puff Daddy remix of “The Things You Do” featuring Missy Elliott, prod. by Rodney Jerkins. Her debut album, Nobody Does It Better went Platinum and the song peaked at #41 on the Hot 100; #12 on the R&B charts via Billboard. This was definitely one of my favorite jam of the 90s and one that made 1996 a memorable year in R&B music. I also believe this was Missy’s first actual feature as a solo artist. Peep the summer vibe!
